Project Topic: Demonstrating that the sensitivity of PNA(DNA)-based sensing devices programmed to detect specific target molecules can be improved when combined with signal amplification processes that exploit dissipative systems. We will employ synthetic PNA and DNA strands, host-guest systems, and nanoparticles to design different sensors for the detection of specific DNA/RNA sequences, small molecules, and antibodies. We will develop innovative amplification schemes that can be applied to different sensing platforms and will thus advance the toolbox of available diagnostic systems.
Contract Duration: 1 year (possible 6-month extension)
